| James was born in 1946 in the then small town of Irvine in north Ayrshire Scotland and learnt how to paint using oils but knew that something was not right with this medium for him. James at last found what he was looking for in a method of traditional style painting using digital oil.
This method is totally different from digital art, particularly computer-generated art, it does not involve the computer rendering from a model. Hand painted digital oil is an art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. This is done directly on a PC, by using a Wacom tablet, a stylus pen and ArtRage painting software. The Wacom tablet can be compared to a canvas or watercolor paper surface. The stylus pen is the paintbrush. The passion for art has produced a varied portfolio of art for James. His greatest passion though is for horses and figurative work. |
